To all chemists!
Did you know that 65% of chemists in Switzerland were trained abroad? This means that chemists are being imported even more than doctors. They are followed by physicists, mathematicians, statisticians and biologists (m/f). In other words, the most popular subjects in the Gymnasium!
I know that there are armies of dedicated STEM teachers in Switzerland who provide really exciting lessons, captivating experiments and topical relevance. But Switzerland is probably too small to cover the immense demand of the pharmaceutical industry with domestically trained professionals.
So, we're not just talking about Switzerland's pharmaceutical exports, which boost GDP. This would not be possible without imports of STEM!
Thank you, Albert Steck, for this very valuable contribution to the current debates!
